18 CCBC Essex Student-Athletes Named to NJCAA All-Academic Teams
Rosedale, MD – CCBC Essex continues to shine both on and off the field as 18 of its student-athletes were honored for their academic achievements by being named to the 2024–25 NJCAA All-Academic Teams. These prestigious awards celebrate excellence in the classroom across all divisions of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
The NJCAA All-Academic honors are divided into three tiers:

First Team: 4.00 GPA

Second Team: 3.80–3.99 GPA

Third Team: 3.60–3.79 GPA
CCBC Essex's 18 honorees span multiple sports, highlighting the Knights' commitment to excellence beyond athletics.
Joshua Brown of the men's cross country and outdoor track and field, and Isaac Bluestein of men's lacrosse were both named to the first team. Second team honors went to Ryunosuke Noda and Philippe Oliveira of men's soccer, Azareya Whiting of women's basketball, and Peyton Moritzen of men's lacrosse. A dozen student-athletes were named to the third team: Sarah Briggs, Maya Ajaime-Friedenberg, and Riley Darchicourt of women's soccer; Bartu Yakkan, Whakeem Foster, and Aidan Hidassy of men's soccer; Cierra McGinlay of women's basketball; DeCarlo Harrison of men's outdoor track and field; Ethan Holland and Logan Castro of men's basbeball; and Matthew Benzing and Benjamin Wetklow of men's lacrosse.
These student-athletes exemplify what it means to be a Knight—dedicated, disciplined, and determined. Their accomplishments are a testament to their work ethic and the supportive environment fostered by CCBC Essex's coaches, faculty, and academic staff.
