CCBC Essex Falls to Frederick, Snapping Six-Game Winning Streak
FREDERICK, MD – CCBC Essex suffered its first conference loss of the season on Thursday, falling 8-4 to Frederick Community College. The defeat ends the Knights' six-game winning streak as they drop to 6-3 overall and 3-1 in region play.
Early Lead Slips Away
The Knights struck first in the top of the first inning, as Sophomore William Hartman (Reisterstown, MD) delivered a two-run single. However, the rally ended when Sophomore Justin Cook (Bradenton, FL) was thrown out at home.
Frederick responded in the bottom of the second, capitalizing on a CCBC Essex error and RBI singles from Josh Erd and Cole Swinimer to take a 3-2 lead.
Freshman Connor Bailey (Salisbury, MD) tied the game at 3-3 in the third inning with an RBI single to left.
Frederick's Big Fourth Inning Seals the Game
The Cougars took control in the bottom of the fourth, scoring five runs on three hits. The inning was highlighted by a three-run homer from Shawn Karpaitis, putting Frederick up 8-3.

- Sophomore Logan Bennett (Forest Hills, NY) (1-1) started for CCBC Essex, allowing eight hits and eight runs (only two earned) over four innings, striking out five and walking three.
- Frederick's Luke Pietrandrea earned the win, tossing three innings, allowing five hits and three runs, with two strikeouts and two walks.
