Game 2
Prince George's Community College
February 26, 2026 | Largo, MD
With the win, Essex improves to 4–0 overall and 2–0 in Region 20 play, marking a strong opening statement in conference competition.
Aggressive Offense, Disciplined Approach
Sophomore Joey Rosa (Carolina, PR) opened the scoring in the first inning with a sacrifice fly to give the Knights an early advantage.
In the third inning, freshman Yariel Hernandez (Moca, PR) drew a walk and later scored as Essex capitalized on a wild pitch to extend the lead. The Knights continued to apply pressure throughout the game, working deep counts and drawing eight walks.
Freshman Andy Martínez Rivera (Vega Alta, PR) went 2-for-4 and led the team with two RBIs. Sophomore Michael Amadio (Lusby, MD) collected three hits in four at-bats to pace the offense. Freshman Marvin Rodriguez (Bronx, NY) and Martínez Rivera each stole multiple bases, contributing to Essex's total of seven stolen bases in the game.
Parsons Leads, Defense Seals It
Sophomore right-hander Casey Parsons (Salisbury, MD) earned the win, allowing just one unearned run over 4.1 innings while striking out three.
Freshman Sebastyen Perez (Woodbridge, VA) added a scoreless inning in relief to close out the victory.
Defensively, Essex turned a momentum-shifting home-to-first double play, executed by freshman pitcher Joseph Cuccurullo (Palm City, FL) and freshman catcher Orville De Jesus (Killeen, TX), halting a potential Owls rally and preserving control of the game.
Up Next
The Knights will return to action Wednesday in a Region 20 single nine-inning game against Cecil College as they look to continue their unbeaten start in conference play.
