Knights Rally Late to Defeat SUNY Ulster, Secure Sweep and Third Straight Win

March 20, 2026 – CCBC Essex

CCBC Essex used a late-inning rally to defeat SUNY Ulster 8-7 in Game 2 of Friday's doubleheader, completing the sweep and extending its winning streak to three games. With the victory, the Knights improve to 9-2 overall (6-1 Region 20).

The Knights jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning when freshman Adrian Camilo (Bronx, NY) delivered an RBI single to open the scoring. CCBC Essex added three more runs in the second inning behind RBI singles from freshman Jacob Severino (Queens, NY) and sophomore Connor Bailey (Parkside, MD) to take control early.

SUNY Ulster responded in the fourth inning, scoring five runs to take a 6-5 lead. CCBC Essex answered in the bottom half of the inning when freshman Casey Parsons (Salisbury, MD) drove in a run to tie the game at six.

After SUNY Ulster regained a 7-6 lead in the top of the sixth, the Knights delivered in the clutch. Parsons tied the game with a sacrifice fly before Bailey came through with the go-ahead RBI single down the right field line, giving Essex an 8-7 advantage they would not relinquish.

Bailey led the Knights offensively, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs in the win. Freshman Marvin Rodriguez (Bronx, NY) and freshman Anthony D'Alfonso (Baltimore, MD) each collected two hits as CCBC Essex totaled nine hits on the day.

The Knights were aggressive on the basepaths, stealing five bases, including three from freshman Andy Martínez Rivera (Vega Alta, PR).

On the mound, Freshman Steven Gonzalez Rodriguez (Cidra, PR) earned the win, tossing 1.1 scoreless innings in relief. Freshman Logan Castro (Brantford, ON) added 1.2 shutout innings, while sophomore Yadier Henriquez Lopez (Harrisburg, PA) started the game, allowing one run over three innings.

CCBC Essex will look to keep its momentum rolling as the Knights travel to CCBC Dundalk on Saturday for their next conference matchup.
