CCBC Essex extended its winning streak and improved to 12-2 overall with a 17-4 comeback victory over Anne Arundel CC on Friday at CCBC Essex.
The Knights trailed by as many as four runs early but responded in dominant fashion, erupting for 17 runs and continuing their strong stretch of play.
Diego Garcia (So., Bradenton, FL) led the offensive charge, going a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate. Garcia doubled in the first inning and added singles in the third and fifth, while also making an impact on the bases.
Anne Arundel jumped out quickly in the top of the first inning, taking advantage of free passes. Hodges and Dove each drew bases-loaded walks, and Fleshman added a two-run single to give Anne Arundel a 4-0 lead.
The Knights answered immediately.
CCBC Essex exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the first inning to flip the game and take an 8-4 lead they would never relinquish. Garcia delivered a key moment with a bases-loaded walk that drove in two runs as Essex showcased its discipline at the plate.
The lead continued to grow in the third inning behind Manuel Agostini (Fr., Toa Baja, PR), who delivered a run-scoring single, and Joey Rosa (Fr., Carolina, PR), who added a sacrifice fly.
On the mound, Michael Sanchez (Fr., Palm City, FL) got the start, allowing four runs over three innings. From there, the bullpen took control.
Michael Amadio (So., Lusby, MD) and Joseph Cuccurullo (Fr., Palm City, FL) combined for scoreless relief, shutting down Anne Arundel the rest of the way.
Offensively, CCBC Essex totaled 10 hits and showed excellent plate discipline with 11 walks.

The Knights were aggressive on the bases, swiping eight total bases, with Garcia leading the way.
Defensively, Essex was flawless—turning a double play and committing zero errors.
Orville De Jesus (Fr., Killeen, TX) led the way with five chances in the field.
Anne Arundel was paced by Fleshman (2 RBI) and Jones, who went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate.
With the win, CCBC Essex continues its hot streak, now winners of multiple in a row and building momentum in Region 20 play.
