CCBC Essex Rallies Late to Complete Comeback Over Cecil College

April 3, 2026 – North East, MD

CCBC Essex erased a five-run deficit and stormed back to defeat Cecil College, 10-8, on Friday, completing the sweep on the day. With the win, the Knights improve to 16-6 overall and 11-1 in Region 20 play, moving into a tie for first place in the region standings.

The Knights struck first in the second inning when Connor Bailey (Sophomore, Salisbury, MD) came home on a sacrifice fly to give Essex an early 1-0 lead.

Cecil College answered in a big way in the bottom half, plating six runs to take a 6-1 advantage. The inning was highlighted by a three-run double from Woods that shifted momentum.

Essex chipped away and began to close the gap in the sixth inning when Casey Parsons (Sophomore, Salisbury, MD) delivered a clutch two-run home run to left field.

Trailing late, the Knights delivered their biggest punch in the seventh inning. Manuel Agostini (Freshman, Toa Baja, PR) sparked the rally with a two-run double, followed by an RBI double from Joey Rosa (Freshman, Carolina, PR). Bailey added a sacrifice fly to cap a four-run inning and give Essex a 10-8 lead they would not relinquish.

On the mound, Drew Rommel (Sophomore, Fallston, MD) got the start, working 4.1 innings. Sebastyen Perez (Freshman, Woodbridge, VA) was outstanding in relief, tossing 2.2 scoreless innings to shut the door and secure the win.

Offensively, Rosa and Bailey led the charge, each collecting two hits while hitting back-to-back in the lineup. Rosa, Agostini, Parsons, and

Chase each drove in two runs for the Knights.

Cecil College managed just four hits in the game, with Woods leading the way with two hits and three RBIs. Despite a clean defensive effort from Cecil, Essex's timely hitting and late-game execution proved to be the difference.

The road only gets tougher from here, as the Knights head to Western Pennsylvania for a four-game road trip against Westmoreland and CCAC. Essex will then travel to face rival CCBC Catonsville before closing out the week on the road with a doubleheader against Chesapeake College.
