Knights Stay Hot: CCBC Essex Dominates Westmoreland, Wins 7th Straight

April 7, 2026 — Westmoreland County Community College

CCBC Essex continued its strong run through Region 20 play on Tuesday, rolling past Westmoreland 15-4 to extend its winning streak to seven games. With the win, the Knights improve to 11-1 in Region 20, continuing to separate themselves as one of the top teams in the conference.

The Knights jumped on Westmoreland early and never let up. In the top of the first inning, Connor Bailey (So., Salisbury, MD) got Essex on the board with an RBI single, and aggressive baserunning forced an error that plated three more runs to give the Knights a quick 4-0 lead.

Essex added to its advantage in the third inning when Laurin Guerra Guzman (So., Santo Domingo, DR) delivered a two-run double, followed by another defensive miscue that pushed the lead even further.

On the mound, Sebastyen Perez (Fr., Woodbridge, VA) earned the win, tossing four innings while allowing just two hits and three runs (two earned). The right-hander worked efficiently, navigating traffic and keeping Westmoreland from mounting any serious comeback.

After a short start from Mekhi Mancuso (So.)Michael Sanchez (Fr., Palm City, FL) provided key relief, tossing 1.2 scoreless innings to stabilize the game and maintain Essex's momentum.

The Knights' offense was relentless throughout the afternoon.
  • Manuel Agostini (Fr., Toa Baja, PR) and Bailey each recorded two hits
  • Agostini, Bailey, and Guerra Guzman each drove in two runs
  • Essex showed patience at the plate, drawing 11 walks
Joey Rosa (Fr., Carolina, PR), Guerra Guzman, and Andy Martínez Rivera (Fr., Vega Alta, PR) each reached base twice via walks, helping keep constant pressure on the Westmoreland pitching staff.

On the bases, the Knights were electric.

Agostini, Zacchaeus Artry (Fr., Memphis, TN), and Martínez Rivera each stole multiple bases as Essex racked up 12 stolen bases, turning walks and singles into scoring opportunities all game long.

Defensively, Essex stayed sharp, turning a double play and limiting Westmoreland's chances to string together offense.

With another Region 20 win secured, the Knights push their winning streak to seven games and continue their road trip before returning east for more conference action later this week.
